The end of days is here thanks to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic– or as per R.E.M, the end of the world as we know it, anyways. And strangely, I do feel fine. Social distancing may be new and foreign to most, but as a gnostic (spiritual) scientist, my research has involved years upon years, really decades of self-isolation and healing. So all of this is really “normal” for me. As a new reality sets in, and more and more people around the world do their part and shelter in place to flatten the Coronavirus (COVID-19) curve to protect global healthcare systems, surprisingly new climate change science data and other scientific data and points of view have begun to emerge.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) – China’s Air Pollution & Quality
In China, where people have been sheltering in place for weeks upon weeks now, air pollution across the nation has greatly reduced and air quality has significantly improved. In just a few weeks. The same is true for the United States. As well as for many other countries (South Korea, etc.) that have had to resort to drastic lockdown, shelter-in-place measures.
Italy has been the hardest-hit country too date, with preliminary data showing that the death rate is presently at a staggering 9.5% (63927 cases, 6077 deaths), overwhelming the healthcare system most probably in a catastrophic way. At the same time as the country went under strict lockdown, shelter-in-place, and social distancing orders, the canals in Venice have become more clear as boat traffic has reduced allowing for more fish, ducks, and the like to return to the waterways.
In Spain, another country hit hard by the coronavirus (COVID-19), air quality is improving as well. Again, in just a few weeks. How quickly could the whole world see such improvements?
More Lockdowns on the Way – Coronavirus (COVID-19)
With India now in total lockdown, meaning more than a billion people under orders to shelter-in-place and social distance, and America well on its way to full lockdown along with many other countries, the coming weeks will be very interesting in terms of further climate change data. Call this the “will of the gods” or “consequences of humanity’s evil-doing” or what have you, this is without a doubt a test of humanity’s ability to unite together through necessary resolve and overcome a common enemy. Prevention is paramount.
Yes, I am talking about the coronavirus, but more to the point, I really mean our most common enemy is ourselves. Humans are a major cause of climate change. COVID-19 is merely helping us humans see things accurately and clearly, honestly.
Contrary to early reports and disinformation on social media and the like, Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its’ symptoms do not discriminate whenit comes to age. Yes, the elderly and those with weakened or compromised immune systems are more susceptible. But, as more and more data and information rolls in, more and more cases of young people of all ages — including the very young/infants, teens, and 20’s — are experiencing serious symptoms and some have even died. So much remains uncertain, but like most anything in life, genetics, diet, exercise, and lifestyle will all play their role.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Prevention and Social Distancing
Social distancing is the new norm, for now, to help prevent coronavirus (COVID-19). How long will that be true? Well, that, like the very inspiring initial climate change data that has recently come in, depends on you. Each and every human being on the planet.
If you are a healthcare worker — doctor, nurse, medical aide, tech, or personnel of any kind — especially those on the frontlines, godspeed and may the force be with you. You are true superheroes. The amount of gratitude and respect I have for you cannot be measured in words alone.
The same goes for all critical workers including police & law enforcement, firefighters, grocery store (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, Albertsons, Kroger, Harris Teeter, etc.) workers, other retail (Costco, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, etc.) workers, Shipping (USPS, Fedex, UPS, etc.) and online (Amazon, etc.) store workers, maintenance workers, and the like. Thank you.
If you have N95 Masks or other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) medical supplies you can donate, please do. Price gougers and criminals taking advantage of the situation in any way, may your feet be held to the full fire of the law and may karma be yours as you truly deserve it. This must be a unified human effort.
For the rest of us, the best way we can help out is to stay home and self-isolate to stop the spread of this highly contagious disease, Coronavirus (COVID-19):
- Wear a proper face mask (fully cover nose and mouth) in public places, especially indoors, but outdoors if in groups of more than 4.
- Take social distancing rules very seriously when you do go out for necessities and recommended exercise, meaning remain six (6) feet away from each other.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly.
- Support your local businesses as safely and as best you can, especially restaurants and local retailers that are getting crushed by the profound economic losses they are experiencing from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
- Stay healthy, keep active and exercise, eat a balanced, nutritious diet, boost your immunity/immune system, gut bacteria, and metabolism, and maintain your safety and sanity.
What Does the Future Hold for Humanity – Coronavirus (COVID-19) & Climate Change
We have seen a glimpse of what we humans can do to help ourselves overcome the dire threat of climate change. Is the data and are the changes we are seeing destined to be temporary and fleeting, with life back to “normal”/as it was once this coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak passes? Can we learn from things quickly enough and change and evolve successfully? Does this include better global environmental policies along with appropriate consumption and population reduction to more sustainable levels? Or is this current pandemic just a taste of the doom that awaits humanity’s future?

Interesting read! I wish that more media outlets were talking about the positive impact that these Coronavirus (COVID-19) related lockdowns are having on the environment. In my opinion, the satellite readings of nitrogen dioxide levels over China that you've provided say it all. Our earth has been healing at a drastic rate since the lockdowns have began and it's up to us now to not only recognize this, but adjust our lifestyles accordingly so that we can move forward in way that respects this wonderful planet God has given us. Anybody who has ever wondered just how much control humanity has over the threat of climate change can now rest assured that the ball is very much in our court.
The question then, as you brought up, becomes HOW do we prevent this information from being forgotten and ensure that everything doesn't simply return to the way it was prior to this Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Although the answer to that is undoubtedly above my pay grade, I think that the more these findings are projected by the media the better chance we'll have at the public and our government officials taking appropriate action.

With the emergence of coronavirus COVID-19 , world is now seeing the new era where everyone is learning how nature has its own ways to deal with the planet. COVID- 19 has forced people to social distance themselves and be in their homes only.I am from India, my country is also struggling with this deadly virus. My mother is stuck in different state , she is not able to travel and meet us in this time.Among all hardships, one thing that is good is that earth is healing itself.we were taking its given oxygen for granted now we are understanding its importance when there is shortage of ventilators.
I belong from Delhi, the pollution level was skyrocketed here, but now it has decreased, the quality of air is good. The Ganga which was heavily polluted with the toxic from industries and littering by people has never been this beautiful from ages. Also, ozone depletion is decreasing. This is teaching us the true importance of nature ad climate and we should love it and respect it.

Though millions have unfortunately been diagnosed with the coronavirus, this pandemic has shown that the people of this world have the ability to help the ever-growing issue of climate change. The examples you listed in China and the United States are some of the many ways that these stay at home orders have helped clean the Earth. All over, there are drops in nitrogen dioxide, drops in air pollution, and less vibrations in the ground. In some ways, social distancing and staying home more will be our new normal. Maybe another part of our new normal will be to focus on how we can clean our air and ensure that future generations have a clean Earth to live in. When COVID-19 has a vaccine and is under control, my hope is that we are able to look at this time as a model in how we can combat issues such as global warming and the issues with the air we inhale everyday.

Wow! What an interesting read about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This article should serve as a wake up call to the world as a whole. This is the earth trying to correct its self. It’s saying that’s it’s too hot and boom global pandemic wipeout out some of our population. The world is naturally trying to preserve its resources by creating a virus to eliminate the things that are manually happening to itself.
On a more serious note it is good to hear that there is some kind of good coming out of this pandemic. It will be out to our appointed leaders to figure out how to implement some kind of restructuring of society to keep the water and air cleaner.
I really do look forward to future articles written by these guys and honestly think we should figure out how to take this article mainstream, just to give the average man or women something to think about.

Okay, this is one of the best takes I have seen about Coronavirus COVID-19. I mean this shows us that there is a positive side to the pandemic. This post serves as a reminder that nature will always do nature things. We all remember that climate change has been a thing, we remember how Amazon Forest went on fire, all the weird things happening in Australia. I feel we need to understand that we need to take good care of our immediate environment. And in situations that we do not, the environment will have to take matters into its own hands. I mean we can see the positive effects that the virus has had on the environment since everybody is staying at home. NASA satellite even shows a 30 Percent drop in Air Pollution Over Northeast U.S. I feel we need to be observing these breaks frequently. This read was really worth it and I would like to challenge us all to start taking the steps in the right direction. Climate change is real and we need to take it seriously.
