Upon relocating to Los Angeles from Missouri, she began working with songwriter and producer Dan Nigro in 2018, eventually dropping the “gay bar” single Pink Pony Club along with music video in 2020, describing it as a “hard left turn” from School Nights. USA Today ranked the tune third on a list of the 10 best songs of 2020, Vulture described it as “the Song of Summer 2021”, and to date, the song has been streamed more than 10 million times on Spotify. The songs Love Me Anyway and California followed, but commercial success was not substantial enough and the music label decided to part ways.

After a short hiatus, she inked a publishing deal with Sony in 2022. Reuniting with Nigro, they created the song Naked in Manhattan.

As well, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess made the top ten on the Billboard 200 for the first time in June, with over 40,000 equivalent album units sold, while reaching number two by August. With the biggest sales week ever of the album, she reached Number One for the first time on the Billboard Artist 100 in early October. With her star on the rise, so far she has one studio album, 11 music videos, one EP, and 14 singles.
